Bonjuor! India’s one the unique place that has to be cited for its uniquness. A French colony and still strong influence of French culture, art and lifestyle none other than Puducherry. Formerly known as Pondichery, was ruled by French even before the English came and after independence.
Auro Beach
One of the popular beaches and coolest place to hangout, but alcohol is prohibited. Must do thing at the beach is take 18th century boat ride and get dropped at the middle of blue ocean.
Maitri Mandir
Find yourself in unique spiritual world. It has been camp for all those seeking holy and spiritual enlightment and living a simple life. You may see many westerners who are already fade up of materialism and seeking the light. I found most as hippie.
Botanical Garden
I don’t know why this does not attract people. May be its at the centre of the city or may be its not so happening place. However if one wants to get surrounded by trees and bushes it’s a fine place.
Notre Dam Church
One of the oldest Church in Pondicherry. It has been carefully maintained hats off to the government and painted entirely in white.
The Park/French Colony
Near to Mahatma Gandhi’s big statue is a nicely maintained park with all French architecture so vintage. And recommend to talk a walk around the French Colony, its definitely going to take you to the colonial era. Serene, silent and ofcourse French!

Rocky Beach/La Cafe
Rocky beach or Gandhi beach is one of the highly maintained beaches in Pooduchery. After 5 pm vehicles are restricted to be filled with human hoards. One of the romantic beaches in India despite not being able to see the sunset, the calm breeze and the French way of beach makes it more appealing. And of course the legendary La café is never to be missed.
Paradise Beach
Privately maintained beach situated few kms away from the city. Costs you to take a ride cross a backwater and go to the beach. One of the most calm beach in whole Eastern coast of India that can be experienced. Grab a beer, swim and relax. Best time to visit after 3 pm.
Anna Salai
Apart from all above, many outlets of branded clothes offer at beaten down prices at Anna Salai, one busiest market place. Girls items are more so they often get lost in the crowd. If its Sunday then a local market fair is organized where you can buy handkerchief to a TV
Apart from all above there are places, temple and one unique undersea way to visit(not recommended). Alcohol and brevarage are tax free so its haven for drunkards. Taste the French foods and cakes and still there are lots of Tamil food shops where you get spicy Biryani and Dosa.
